Increasingly, the website is the store.
Which is why a website’s visual appeal, functionality, and, above all, shopability have never been more important.
Especially in the battle for online shoppers.
Especially in the heated rivalry between Amazon and Walmart.
And one of these contenders, Walmart, recently poured fuel on the fire by launching a sleeker, airier, entirely redesigned website.
In April, Walmart announced this restyled website would roll out on May 5, but it appears some online shoppers received an early preview of the new Walmart.com.
What, Field Agent wondered, do online shoppers make of Walmart’s new website? How does the redesign rate against the company’s old website? How does it compare to Amazon.com?
We asked.
Rapid Response: What Online Shoppers Think about the New Walmart.com
In April and early May, Field Agent collected pre-redesign feedback about Walmart’s website from some ### shoppers across the United States. We wanted to know how online shoppers viewed the mega-merchandiser’s old website along several important dimensions.
Then, with the tapered rollout of the new Walmart.com, Field Agent posed many of the same questions to ### online shoppers, allowing us to compare shoppers’ perceptions of the old Walmart.com against perceptions of the new website. The post-redesign survey also afforded opportunities to draw comparisons between the new Walmart.com and Amazon’s website.
No overlap existed between pre- and post-redesign samples; no single respondent completed both surveys.
Below we offer several timely insights into shoppers’ perceptions of the new Walmart.com.
But first, a few online shoppers on our panel take you on a video tour of the newly redesigned website, sharing their thoughts along the way.
